Neighborhood
The hotel is located in Bur Dubai, one of the oldest yet most vibrant districts of the city. Unlike the polished glass skyscrapers of Downtown or Marina, there's a gritty real hustle to Bur Dubai. You're practically sitting on top of what used to be called Al Fahidi Metro Station (Green Line); now it's well connected with the rest of the city's metro system. Walk just behind the hotel and you're at Meena Bazaar- often referred to as 'Little India.' The area offers a labyrinthine network through narrow streets packed with textile shops and gold jewelry stores along with some excellent budget dining options available within Dubai.
For sightseeing, Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood (Bastakiya) is about a fifteen-minute walk. Here you can see traditional wind-tower architecture and visit the Dubai Museum (in Al Fahidi Fort). You can also walk to the Creek and take an Abra (old wooden boat) across the water to the Spice Souk and Gold Souk in Deira for just 1 Dirham. The area is safe but intensely crowded, filled with the sounds of honking cars and street vendors.
